Places to hang out

Students' Life No Comments

Parc de la Ciutadella – beautiful park with a fountain, lake in the middle with boat hire, zoo and a museum. If you want to spend a nice afternoon, just hanging out, lying on the grass under a palm tree and feeling sun on your face – this place is ideal. There are always lots of young people around, lots of artists and just a pleasant atmosphere.

Parc Guell – one of the main tourist spots, amazingly beautiful and inspiring. Unfortunately, always full of people, but still worth going just to hang out.

Arc de Triomf – despite the tourist spot, a popular meeting spot for young people. You can see groups of people dancing, playing, roller-skating, reading or simply socializing. Worth going on Saturday when you can join local people passing their spare time.

Port Vell, Mare Magnum - if you are on the Ramblas, go a little bit down to the Colombus, and you will see many people chilling in the Port area. Mare Magnum is the shopping mall with the great area around. There’s nothing better than chilling in the sun at the water with spectaluar views of Montjuic, Marina and the city.

Plaza Lesseps - It is a Metro Station with a wide green zone with many benches and skating ramps. A hot spot not only for Barcelona’s skaters but for everyone who is looking for a chilling place in the neighbourhood of Gracia.

Bogatell/Marbella beaches - Barcelona has around 5km of beaches, but the tourists usually know only about Barceloneta. Bogatell and Mar Bella are located farther away from the centre, but are definitely quieter and less crowded. Just perfect for a chilling afternoon or Sunday picnic!

Districts of : Raval, Barri Gotic, El Born – You can see young people hanging out in Raval, Barri Gotic, El Born district (however, best to avoid it at night because it can be a little dangerous, especially for the tourists!). You will find people skating, sitting and playing music at almost every little square between all these small, beautiful, Spanish streets.
