Sant Joan

Chris' Corner, Every Day Living No Comments

Every year on the 23rd of June, neighbourhoods in Barcelona organize celebrations with bonfires and firework displays. This celebration started as a pagan festival for summer solstice which is the shortest night/ longest day of the year and each year the whole city gets involved and goes crazy. Read the rest…

Better than Barça….

Chris' Corner, Every Day Living No Comments

I have recently stumbled accross a new thing to do in Barcelona and I am gutted that I didnt find it earlier. A few friends from my local bar in Borne all play for football teams in the BIFL, thats Barcelona International Football League to the rest of us, and for the majority of the season they have been trying to get me to go along and watch. The only problem is that their games clashed with fixtures like Manchester United v Arsenal or Chelsea v Spurs so I always politely declined the offer and decided to stay in the pub, until the day came that Dynamo were playing against the Celtic Cross in the BIFL Cup semi-final. These 2 teams contain the majority of my friends who play in the league so I couldnt not go! Read the rest…

Around the World in 100 minutes!

Chris' Corner, Corporate Events No Comments

A few months ago Lifestyle Barcelona helped a very well known Multi-national events company with the organizing and staffing of a huge corporate event in Barcelona. That event went so well that the next time they were in town they called upon our services to help with the staffing of another massive event, this time at the well known Hotel Arts, a fantastic 5* hotel located right on the beach at Port Olimpic. The clients were a very large law firm with offices all over the world and to coincide with this the agency involved invented a very unique team-building game that involved the clients ‘circumventing the world, completing challenges that were directly linked to each continent as they went’. The group obviously didn’t go round the world, as the financial and time constraints would make it impossible, and they didnt actually have to leave the room to play One World! Read the rest…

A week off

Chris' Corner, Every Day Living No Comments

Last week I had a holiday and it was the first time off I have had since I began working last September. I didn’t realise how much I needed the time to just to relax and spend some time actually doing something besides working, sleeping, drinking and watching football! Read the rest…

Beer Tasting in Barcelona!

Chris' Corner, Food and Drink No Comments

Being Scottish, being a student and being young are 3 massive factors in my love for the amber nectar that is beer, known as cerveza here as my limited Spanish leads me to believe. A while back we were invited to go on 2 different food and drink related trips and the office was split to decide who went to which one. Read the rest…

April - What a month!

Chris' Corner, Every Day Living No Comments

Wow, April has been by far best month for me since my pilgrimage to Catalunya from the capital of Scotland 7 months ago. Until this month I had been slowly adapting to the way of life here, and even more slowly trying to learn the language and at the same time forming new relationships and friendships whilst doing my best to stay up-to-date with my existing ones about 1000 miles away! The Black Lips

Chris' Corner, Every Day Living No Comments

Tonight at Apolo 2 in Barcelona one of my favourite new bands will be performing. If all Barcelona’s scenesters are as cool as they think then this is a must see event will be packed as they are awesome! Hailing from Atalanta, Georgia they are not your average band, who now on their 3rd album are just starting to get the recognition that they deserve. They are a breath of fresh air to the indie scene with bands nowadays all looking and sounding the same, and that sound isn’t awe inspiring at the best of times!

Champions League D-Day

Chris' Corner No Comments

Who would’ve thought that at the start of the season Barcelona would be trailing 7 points of the top of La Liga in 3rd position. I certainly didn’t and week in week out I am constantly amazed as to how bad a team strewn with world class players can perform, and this doesn’t just apply Barcelona. Their arch rivals and league leaders Real Madrid and their ‘Galacticos’ are also as temperamental as a schizophrenic with no medication. Read the rest…

Primavera Sound

Chris' Corner No Comments

It is now officially Spring, and the thing to do in Barcelona that I am most looking forward to (apart from my birthday) is Primavera Sound festival. For 3 days and nights at the end of May Barcelona’s Forum will host this ecclectic mix of musical talent from all over the world. There will be a plethora of talent on show and with the extremely diverse line-up I challenge anyone to not find at least one artist they would like to see! Read the rest…
