At Lifestyle Barcelona we are always trying our own activities to make sure we offer our clients the best experiences, but we also have experience in other segments of this jewel of a city!
We will give you some inside tips on some of our personal favorite restaurants. Most of them are great on a tight budget and some of them are great for those who have money to spend. We have made a short list of restaurants which all offer a different cuisine, from Asian food, to Mexican, to the typical Spanish cuisine.
If you are looking for an unforgettable gastronomic experience that is traditionally Spanish with a modern twist, then your stop is Teleferic restaurant. When you walk in, you come across rows of freshly made tapas with traditional and not so traditional ingredients. The bites are always fresh, and the smell alone will get your mouth watering. People like Mark Zuckerberg, who have dined at Teleferic, praise the restaurant for their delicious and unlike any other true Spanish tapas experience. However, don’t let the celebrity attention fool you because Teleferic is a local favorite, unknown to many tourists. In 2013, Teleferic won the award of best tapas in Barcelona, presenting an exclusively flavorful foie gras bite. Don’t think twice, one visit here and you will be craving these Barcelona delicacies, bringing you back not only to this restaurant, but back to the city as well!
Sabes Una Cosa
It was hard to pick a favorite between all the Mexican restaurants in Barcelona. Therefore we just decided to mention 2, starting with Sabes Una Cosa in Gracia. They prepare the food authentically and exactly how it should be done without any unusual ingredient. The interior is simple, a bit dark but very local with Mexican personnel. The laidback atmosphere and friendly staff will make you feel right at ease. This Mexican restaurant is highly recommended for its super flavorful dishes. It’s going to be hard making a choice with all these delights.
Second, COBM, standing for Chido One Bar Mexicano. I found this restaurant by accident during Festa Major de Gracia in the young Gracia area. The interior is very cute, decorated with beautiful Mexican paintings, dolls and little figures. Most importantly, COBM offers a very tasty Mexican cuisine on a tight budget! I recommend you to try the nachos with guacamole as a starter, they are so good and great for sharing.
This will definitely be one of the most original sushi menu you have ever seen. Try the delicious Frisky or Unicorn roll! Everything on their menu is super tasty and freshly made. This is the perfect place to try something new. Monster Sushi is claimed to be the best sushi in Barcelona and we won’t argue that. And besides the sushi, their desserts are heaven as well! The cheesecake or the strawberry dessert are definitely worth the calories. Situated right next to the Gracia metro stop makes this restaurant super easy to find.
This burger restaurant near the famous street Passeig de Gracia, with an industrial looking set-up, gives you the opportunity to select every single ingredient. The type of bread, meat, sauce and vegetables; everything will be exactly how you want it to be.
Also Bacao is one of the public favorites. Choosing between their 3 establishments in Barcelona, we like the one most located in Barceloneta. Bacoa’s burgers are cooked to perfection and served with 100% natural ingredients and homemade bread. Compared to Oval, Bacoa is a small place with a limited seating, simple interior and specially during rush hours you may have to wait a while.
This Beautiful restaurant is located on top of the Museu d’Història de Catalunya, in the building of Palau de Mar (Port Vell). The restaurant has a distinguished and elegant setting and features an exquisite outdoor terrace with unique privileged views over Barcelona’s skyline.
1881 offers an excellent traditional Mediterranean cuisine. On arrival we were offered a delicious cold and hot appetizer and the service was amazing. I had some questions about the wines and the manager had printed out a map which told me where I could buy the wines.
Based 100 metros from the metro station Fontana in Gracia, Machinna has people lining up every evening. The cart has 10 different sort of pastas (tagliatelle, penne, ravioli, etc..), 12 different sauces and many extra toppings which you can combine however you like. With prices starting from 3,90 for a big plate of pasta with olive oil, garlic and chili, we can say it is not expensive. Besides this, they also offer a kids menu and other dishes like lasagna, soup, salads and delicious cheap deserts! For those who like beers, at Machinna you have the opportunity to taste a selection of the best artisan beers from Spain, England and America. In order to get a table and try this concept it is best to come before 7pm.
The best Tapas for the best prices! Bita Cora is one of my favorite tapas bars in Barcelona. It is located in the Barceloneta area and features a small outside terrace. With its dark and typical Catalan setting, Bitacora is absolutely not the most beautiful restaurant in Barcelona, but it is the most interactive one. Bitacora offers you strictly tapas. This restaurant is great for those of you who celebrate their vacation on a tight budget. Besides the tapas they offer nice mojitos and sangria. We had a lovely dinner here with 4 persons for only 35 Euros!
This typical Vietnamese restaurant is located in the lively area of El Raval, near las Ramblas. The interior is very colorful and features beautiful wall painting and Vietnamese lanterns. There is a small outside terrace with a few tables. Bun Bo offers all kind of dishes from the Vietnamese cuisine. I really recommend the spring rolls with pork or tofu. This little restaurant offers lovely mojitos for only €3,50, so there is no need to spend your money!
A cosy bar/restaurant which offers delicious Classic Latin food and drinks. On sunny days the colorful terrace is mostly filled but inside it isn’t less amusing. The open kitchen, a dj playing latin sounds and a happy bartender are the perfect mix for a nice afternoon lunch or dinner. The menu has loads to offer; from Brazilian Moqueca to Mexican tacos or nachos, from meat like they prepare it in Argentina with their traditional sauce ‘chimichurri’ to a Quinoa Salad or spicy Ceviche of Peru. With its location in Barceloneta, a couple steps removed from the beach, it is also a nice option to cool down with a cocktail after a walk by the sea.
Restaurante Nautic Cabrera
For a taste of some of the freshest seafood, step outside of the city to one of the most modern, zen, and delicious beach front restaurants Barcelona has to offer. Located about 30 minutes out of the city on the beautiful, clean, and less touristy beach of Vilasar, Restaurante Nautic Cabrera is as breathtaking as delicious. The restaurant, which is settled only 10 meters from the sea, delivers the freshest food and the best views one could ask for. One of the most unusual experiences will be tasting the hydroponic salad which will be freshly cut and brought to the table with the root! The service is top notch, with friendly staff who will recommend the most popular dishes and give you the inside scoop on this newly renovated and highly successful restaurant. Dazzled in white decor, you will feel like you have just stepped off the plane onto the island of Ibiza, while enjoying some signature cold drinks and delicious Catalan cuisine such as the Paella Be Water which includes an array of freshly picked seafood. Do not forget to bring your camera because this is a must see and must taste location!
El Petit Bankok
Up for some heat and spicy food? El Petit Bangkok is a Thai restaurant with very good food and service, and it’s inexpensive. With its warm and inviting atmosphere it is always very busy so we advise to book a table beforehand. Located on Carrer de Vallirana.
Another very good option to eat tapas is Cervecería Catalana, where food is fresh and served quickly. Try the daily special seafood menu, this one is specially delicious! It is a local place with an open seating, and lively atmosphere.
Another good option for tapas is Kilo, which you find some steps removed from Avenida Diagonal, and it’s according to many one of the best restaurants in Barcelona. The menu is quite broad and besides tapas they also offer larger dishes with fish or meat.
Last but not least, there’s Viana. We do agree with all its excellent reviews online. This cosy little restaurant with a vintage-style decor serves a wide-ranging menu of international cuisine, delicious cocktails and desserts. Located just off Las Ramblas, Viana is the perfect place for having a lovely time as a couple. Just keep in mind the place is small and very popular, so we recommend you book in advance, specially on weekends. Ready for this gastronomic oasis?
