foto-1And again I left the office to do some research on a beautiful day, research for new activities in Barcelona that we could include in our portfolio. I know there are a lot of walking tours throughout the city of Barcelona but I promise you this is a walking tour completely different than any walking tour. The walking tour that I had planned for the day is called the Barcelona Street Style tour. I got to know about this free walking tour, that shows you the greatest street art in Barcelona on Facebook. Personally, I am very interested in what we could call the city´ free art and therefore I was really excited to get to know the highlights of Barcelona´ street art.

foto-5The meeting point of the Street Style tour is next to the Arc de Triomf, today it is just a German guy, the tour guide and me. According to the guide the attendance varies greatly, sometimes it´s 10 people and sometimes just 1 person. So if you are lucky you will get a private tour 😉 After chatting for a bit and waiting to see if more people would show up we start our tour with the saying, ´´running shoes bad news´´,  our guide tries to explain us to watch our belongings carefully.

We start the tour and one of the first things that come to mind is the fact that there are so many times that you walk through a city and do not even notice the nice art pieces or ´´tags´´ on the walls,  foto-2doors or even traffic signs. Or if you notice them you might not be aware of all the great stories and whole scene that is going on behind the art works.

The Barcelona street style can be defined as young, naïve and colorful. When walking through the La Ribera and El Born neighborhoods you can see the expression of the colorful, young and naïve style very well. After an hour or so you start recognizing the different artists and their specific styles, you will get to know the relationships between the artists and you will notice even very small pieces of art works that you would normally just pass by.

foto-3In my opinion the street style tour is very well worth it, if you like graffiti but also if you would like to get a glimpse of the hidden treasures that El Born and La Ribera hold such as small cafes, eateries, boutiques and art galleries.

I will end this blog the same way as we ended the tour by saying: ´´ La calle es de todos´´!
