FC Barcelona fixtures 2012-2013

13 July 2012 No Comment

Hi there FC Barcelona fans!

It is time to take out your blue and red shirts, jackets, scarves and caps, because the full list of the Spanish league fixtures has now been released!

The first match will take place on the 18th or 19th of August. FC Barcelona will play their first match against Real Sociedad. The last time Barca and Real Sociedad met in the LIGA opening match was in 1993/1994. FC Barcelona won this game with 3-0. It will be a pretty rough start though, because after the opening match Messi and Co will take on Osasuna, where they lost with 3-2 last year. After this Valencia will visit Camp Nou and then the club will travel to the football players of Getafe, another club where they failed to pick up points in the last LIGA.

Finally on the 6th or 7th of October according to the Spanish league fixtures the first Clásico will be played! The team of Real Madrid will first head to the FC Barcelona stadium and later on in the year on the 2nd or 3rd of March Barca will head to Madrid. It will not only be a very competitive match between the two teams, but for the coaches it will be interesting as well. Last summer Jose Mourinho poked the then FC Barcelona assistant, Tito Vilanova in the eye during a Super Cup match. Jose Mourinho got a two match ban after the incident, which now has been lifted as part of a general amnesty. Tito Vilanova´s one match ban for reacting to the aggression of the Real Madrid coach is also been lifted.

I think by adding left back Jordi Alba, FC Barcelona made a great step in the right direction to compete against their biggest rival. The club signed the youngster from Valencia for €14 million on a five year contract. During EURO 2012 Alba played with Spain as the team dominated the competition and won their third straight major title. The 23-year old Jordi Alba scored a key goal in the finals of the tournament against Italy.

With a complete defender upgrading Barca’s weakest position the club will enter the season 2012/2013 stronger than they were last year. I’ll hope it will help them recapture the LIGA crown!
