Barcelona is an amazing city not only for stags and hens weekends, romantic getaways, group trips or incentive events but also for family vacations. Family trips can be the best experiences ever, but it all depends on what the destination has to offer.  Barcelona offers all kinds of activities and experiences which are fun for both parents and children.

Barcelona
is a city where you can fill your days with trips to museums, galleries, lovely parks, family attractions and relaxing moments on the beach.  There is no shortage of things to do in Barcelona with children.  The main attractions such as the Aquarium and Zoo, plenty of museums and galleries offer special kids’ activities and workshops.

In this blog I give you some of my personal favorite ´´Barcelona with children´´ activities!

Tibidabo amusement park
Tibidabo is a magical place and one of the symbols of Barcelona. This 100 year old amusement park is one of the oldest in the world,
but never stands still. The park is designed for older and younger children with attractions that include a pirate area, a castle and a variety of old-fashioned and modern rides and plenty to keep them happy.  Tibidabo is also home to the Sacred Heart Church. This beautiful church is well worth the uphill journey if you are looking for stunning views.

Magic fountain
The ‘’ Font Magica’’ is a musical show featuring water fountains and a light show that makes a wonderful after-dark treat for children. It is situated between Plaza Espanya and the Palau Nacional. The fountains were created in 1929 for the World Exhibition. If you’re planning on watching this show make sure you are on time and take a seat at the stairs of the MNAC gallery or in the various areas around the fountains. The show starts every Thursday to Sunday at 9 pm and the duration is about 30 minutes.

Barcelona Aquarium
This is the largest of its kind in Europe. The aquarium offers a marine, leisure and educational centre. They even offer special children tours like ‘’meet the sharks’’ and ‘’penguins in dinner jackets’’. The highlight of the visit will be the Oceaneri. Here you’ll walk through a glass tunnel that brings you face to face with three hungry grey sharks named, Drake, Morgan an Maverick, lurking in 4,5 million liters of water. The Barcelona aquarium opens every day from 9:30 am till 9 pm.

The Barcelona Zoo
The beautiful Zoo of Barcelona is located in the Ciutadella Park and features more than 400 different animal species! There is a play area for children, an amazing dolphin show (which I recommend you to watch), A Flora and Fauna area and a petting farm. There are special ´´Mornings at the Zoo´´ that are organized for kids aged 4-11 years old. These special mornings offer children the change to learn more about the lives of zoo animals, how dolphins are trained and also meet the zoo vet.

The Forest Adventure
This adventure is a great activity to do with children in Barcelona. In a space of 3 hectares of pines you will have to tackle different levels, where the objective is to travel from one tree to another. Time will fly by while you have fun with each challenge. All the obstacles are exciting and completely safe since all the participants are securely attached to safety lines through the harness given during the briefing at the beginning of the experience. Kids can join this activity from 4 years old, they are guided by several instructors and are all secured to safety lines.

Barcelona bike tour
A bike tour is the perfect way to discover Barcelona with children. The day will start in the heart of Barcelona where you will receive an introduction to the history of this magnificent Mediterranean city. You will drive from the breathtaking beauty of the Sagrada Familia to the gothic darkness of the Cathedral and Barceloneta beach. Your expert local guide will tell you everything you’d like to know about Barcelona and its magical fairytales.  For the little ones we offer kids seats, so the whole family can join!
