In most minds, Les Corts is only known as being the home of the FC Barcelona stadium, the famous Camp Nou. Last week, I went to visit this district with the mission to show Les Corts has much more to offer, it is very interesting district and really worth´s a visit, in this blog, I am going to tell you why.

Les Corts is the business centre of Barcelona you will see many high-rises buildings, hotels and restaurants, especially around the main road of the city, Diagonal Avenue. I have heard that lots of business people go to the tapas restaurant Piscolabis to have lunch. Once, I have eaten there myself and I can say, they offer very good tapas! In this restaurant, you get the menu including pictures of the food, so you know what you get to eat, in my opinion; this is a big benefit of the restaurant. If you are going to Piscolabis at Diagonal Avenue around lunchtime, you will be eating with the biggest business people of Barcelona. Thanks to the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Les Corts is also one of the biggest student districts of Barcelona, which gives the area a living atmosphere.

The most exclusive neighborhood, Pedralbes, the Beverly Hills of Barcelona, is located in the district Les Corts, most of the rich people of the city live in this area. Therefore, you can admire lots of beautiful; big houses while taking a walk through the streets. In case you love shopping, this place is an ideal option for you! The district offers three large shopping malls which promise long lasting shopping pleasure: El Corte Ingles, Pedralbes Centre and L´Illa Diagonal Mar. You can also find lots of shopping streets.

Les Corts is modern area, but I found a surprising survivor of the authentic Barcelona, Placa de Concordia, this is a square where time stood still. The name of the plaza means ´Harmony Square´, because there is a perfect mix of bars, restaurants and small businesses. Placa de Concordia is a nice serene spot between the bustling streets of Les Corts and it is popular with locals, I really enjoyed sitting there for a while, looking at the pretty Església Maria de Déu Del Remei.

If you search well, you can find the most beautiful and exclusive sights in Les Corts. I was walking across Avinguda de Pedralbes when I saw a hidden masterpiece of Gaudi, Pavellons de la Finca Güell. It was a cute little building, covered with the famous mosaic of Gaudi. The most striking part was the open mouthed dragon on the fence, it seemed like the dragon was protecting the area behind the fence. I really recommend this outstanding building to Gaudi admirers.

When I walked further on Avinguda de Pedralbes, I came at the beautiful Museu-Monestir de Pedralbes, this monastery is considered to be one of the finest examples of Catalan Gothic architecture.  Once you are in, you’ll get a real insight into what life was like for the inhabitants (nuns with wealthy background) throughout the centuries. It really feels like time stood still around this wonderful museum.

Just along from the monastery, there is a great restaurant I would like to recommend you! The name is El Jardi de l’Abadessa and the garden setting makes your summer dinner a joy. The cuisine is Mediterranean with only fresh ingredients, a wide variety of salads, pasta, meat and fish dishes, homemade desserts and an extensive wine list.

The district Les Corts also has lots of green areas. I recommend visiting Palau Reial de Pedralbes, in my opinion; it is the most beautiful park I have ever seen and really worth´s a visit! You first have to walk through the park before you arrive at the palace, you will come across the most wonderful gardens, lakes, statues, architecture and fountains; it is the perfect place to take a stroll.
