Last weekend I had the pleasure of escorting one of the nicest couples on their dream trip to Travel with the FC Barcelona Players the away game at Levante (Valencia). Ryan Bradley Yuen and his girlfriend Clarissa Ying contacted us before Christmas to have a meeting to discuss our travel with the players experience.
To any pure footballing fan this experience is a once In a lifetime opportunity, but to a lifelong, die hard Barca fan like Ryan this was a dream come true. Ryan who is from Singapore has been a Barca fan since he was 10. He told me stories of how all his friends in Singapore were into the English Premier League and that 15 years ago the Spanish League was not so popular amongst his friends. Ryan also explained that Puyol was his reason for supporting Barca and since first seeing him play he had always wanted to meet him and the team.
Ryan and Clarissa were thorough in their research of this package and when they came to the office they had a catalogue of questions prepared. We were happy to answer all of their questions, like so many of our previous clients the biggest question is “ is this for real?”
Most people just cannot believe that this experience is real and continuously look for the catch that’s why it is always such a great feeling for everyone when the moment finally arrives and they get up close to their heroes like Messi, Xavi, Alves and Iniesta.
The day began at 9am with a meeting in the airport. There was a tense hour wait in the departure lounge and then at around 10am with a rush of excitement the players began to arrive. Ryan and Clarissa had planned this moment to perfection, they knew who´s autographs they wanted to get and methodically set about approaching their chosen heroes to ask for photos and autographs. Ryan had even researched the best pens to use when signing the autographs (for more information on his results you can contact us). The players were very relaxed and amiable making the experience all the more surreal. You can see the photos of Ryan and Clarisa on our facebook page here.
Once we were on the plane, it took 40 minutes to get to Valencia where we had a 6 hour wait for the pick up for the game. We used this opportunity to do some sightseeing, visiting the science museum and then no trip to Valencia would be complete without eating a paella.
The game was unfortunately not a classic, but the atmosphere in the stand of the traveling fans was electric. Today we had our revenge by thrashing LEvante in the copa Del Rey 4-1!!
We hope Ryan and Clarissa had fun, I certainly had fun sharing this special day with them.
